Reformer Clinical Pilates

The one-to-one reformer clinical Pilates was life-changing and reason for my improvements in my movement and in my sports - it all made sense when the clinical Pilates instructor placed their hands on me to show me what neutral and normal felt like.

No one showed me what's normal before! This was revolutionary for me, because what was normal for me was actually not normal, and it was picked up in the one-to-one clinical Pilates reformer session and corrected since.

Clinical Pilates with a reformer can treat a full range of orthopedic and sports conditions and injuries to help accelerate return to work, sports and life in a safe manner.

Every clinical Pilates program is customized for every single individual client. There is no one-size-fits all when it comes to Pilates (applies to Phoenix Rehab as a whole).

aim of reformer clinical pilates

  • Restore full range of movement to the injured area (which tends to stiffen up due to natural healing, guarded / fear)
  • Restore normalcy to daily routine ie dressing, washing, going to work
  • Prevent reinjury by strengthening deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall core stability and posture

This enables more balanced, controlled and comfortable whole body movement.

full total body clinical pilates rehabilitation and workout

Combining Pilates' reformer spring resistance, balance equipment and cadillac techniques with with physiotherapy's techniques such as

we are very confident and certain to be able to help patients to achieve full and total body control, strengthening and workout.

reformer clinical pilates

Clinical Pilates is taught by a regulated healthcare professional (such as Physiotherapists) with deep knowledge of anatomy and injuries as well as the rehabilitation frameworks and concepts to facilitate healing.

What we do is to then combine that with Pilates principles and integrate them into an individualised exercise program specific to the needs of each client.

After assessing and determining the main cause of a client’s issue, Pilates is used as a tool to improve movement patterns, optimise performance and limit the risk of injury.

Not all Pilates are the same:

Failure to understand what type of Pilates your body needs can hinder your progress and in some cases result in even more pain and injury. Although exercises may seem similar between the different styles of Pilates, it is ultimately how they are administered and your individual needs that vary.

Benefits of reformer Clinical Pilates

Getting Started

At your initial consultation, your principal physiotherapist (also your clinical Pilates instructor) will make a detailed initial assessment to get to know your body and injuries better, such as

  • injury,
  • pain or
  • postural problems present and
  • introduce you to the basic principles of Pilates.

It involves a full-body screening and enables us to establish any areas of injury, imbalance or weakness to ensure you get the most out of your sessions.

It is also an opportunity to introduce you to our clinic and Pilates reformer as well as discuss which pilates sessions are best suited to your body moving forwards.

You will be shown how to perform appropriate exercises on the floor and reformer and an individual program will be developed for you. Your program can be tailored to your chosen sporting activity if required.

You may also be provided with exercises and stretches to practice at home. Depending on your experience level, injury or condition you may need to attend several one-on-one pilates sessions before booking into any small group reformer classes.

You may also choose to continue with private one on one sessions, if they prefer.

Our sessions are only 1-to-1 as it's the best clinical outcomes.

Clinical Pilates Exercises will be individually tailored to your needs, goals and ability using a combination of reformer, tower and other equipment.

clinical pilates and private health insurance

Private insurance rebates do not cover a number of natural therapies including Pilates.

However, as clinical Pilates is done by regulated and licensed physiotherapists, as is part of physiotherapy interventions, clinical Pilates is supported by private health insurances.

As such, only clinical Pilates that is conducted or led by regulated and licensed physiotherapists will be covered by private health insurances, subject to terms and conditions of the health insurance.

will this affect reformer clinical pilates sessions at phoenix?

Not at all - we only do 1-to-1 reformer clinical Pilates with our principal physiotherapists anyway.
