bodytalk and craniosacral therapy

Tonya Shaw

  • BA Economics, University of Manchester, UK
  • Certified Personal Trainer, ACE (American Council on Exercise)
  • CPR & AED qualified
  • CranioSacral Therapy Level 1 (CST1), Upledger Institute International
  • Member of International BodyTalk Association (IBA)

Core Skills

Tonya is a member of the International BodyTalk Association (IBA), and is also a CranioSacral Therapist (Level 1). She also is an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified Personal Trainer.

After 20 years of working in Banking and Finance, she decided to call it quits and pursue her passion – a career in which she could contribute positively towards an individual’s health. Her initial interest in a healthy lifestyle started as she started to explore more holistic solutions for her own health predicaments rather than just treat the symptoms.

Tonya believes that for one to be truly healthy from the inside out, one has to go beyond the body’s physical and nutritional needs. A healthy positive mind is the most important factor for one’s health and is often taken for granted.

In her BodyTalk sessions, Tonya uses a holistic approach to address the whole person and their life story rather than focusing on a particular symptom or area of pain for her treatments. Every person is different, and their story is unique, therefore Tonya takes a customized approach for each of her clients’ sessions.

craniosacral therapy, somatoemotional release, emotional freedom technique

Sharon Tan

  • Certificate Craniosacral Therapy (CST) (Level 1 and Level 2) (The Upledger Institute)
  • Somato Emotional Release (SER) (Level 1) (The Upledger Institute)
  • Certified practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
  • Certified practitioner in Matrix Reimprinting

It all started when Sharon sought help for her postnatal depression. With the help of a natural therapy, she managed to beat depression without medication.

Later, she discovered firsthand how emotions can affect the physical self. Sharon sought relief for her chronic backache through physiotherapy, but the pain kept coming back. She was eventually referred for an alternative therapy, and her pain went away after just three sessions.
Sharon's experiences taught her that there's often more to physical pain and ailment than meets the eyes; she discovered that the human body has a natural ability to heal itself, and that sparked off her interest in holistic mind-body healing.

She is trained in a number of therapies and techniques that allows her to effectively determine the root cause of a physical ailment.

Her areas of special interest include chronic pains that arise from childhood and emotional trauma.

personal trainer

Sara Ng
Personal Trainer and Triathlon Coach (Since 2013)

  • Certificate in Personal Training (ACE)
  • Triathlon Coaching Certificate (Triathlon, New Zealand)
  • TRX Certification
  • METAFIT Certificate (Singapore)

I enjoy challenging myself and pushing my limits – I compete in triathlons and enjoy the rigorous training that it entails. I race about 20 times a year, and have qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships thrice. On average, I swim 6 – 8km, cycle 150 – 200km and run 40 – 50 km a week.

Fun Facts About Me:

  1. I am a huge history and mythology buff. I enjoy reading about the Early Modern period of European history, and I love Greek, Egyptian and Norse mythology.

  2. I took a gap year after graduating from law school and spent the year competing in triathlons around the world. I survived on prize money and when I was back home in Singapore, I worked as a personal trainer for additional income. It was tough but probably the best experience of my life so far.

  3. I enjoy traveling to new places in an unconventional way, usually to the horror and aghast to some of my traveling mates. I don’t usually have a scheduled landmark list that I need to see and enjoy wandering around the area even if I am lost. Also, I walk everywhere – even if I’ve run for 2 hours earlier that morning.

  • Sports Nutritional Advice

  • Phoenix@Novena Medical Center #10-09

Adventurer, ultrarunner, sports nerd. Constantly testing limits, taking inspiration from my incredible circle of friends and beyond. I’m not afraid to go against the grain, not in an aggressive way, just happy to think outside the box.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I’d like to inspire people, to show that you can achieve what you first perceive as impossible, by having faith, taking a step out of your comfort zone, and learning from things that don’t quite go as planned.

Pilates & Yoga Instructor

Lisa Low

Lisa’s strong practice is a true testament to her two plus decades of yoga practice. Her teachings inspire her students to develop a d eeper connection with their own body, mind, breath and wellness.

Like most people, she started yoga to de-stress.  At that point in her life,  Lisa was looking for direction and read that yoga was like a ‘happy pill’.  She was under the impression that yoga was all about meditation until she met one of her first teachers in a Hatha Yoga class and hasn’t looked back since.

To Lisa, yoga has evolved to become a holistic approach to wellness, involving much more than physical postures, but also including an emphasis on stilling the changing states of the mind (yogaśh-citta-vrtti-nirodhah).

Her classes are strong, rigorous, yet refined, as they offer her students an understanding of the physical body through key anatomical focuses and attention to alignment. Her approach is extremely hands-on, and she encourages her students to develop and progress at their own pace.

Deeply passionate about her study and deep-seeded knowledge in myofascial and trigger point release, Lisa uses the technique as therapy and rehabilitation for students recovering from injuries.

As part of her continued education in yoga and using yoga as medicine, therapy and alternative healing, Lisa is currently pursuing her 1000-hour advanced yoga teacher training with Yoga Medicine under the direct tutelage of Tiffany Cruikshank.

Besides a yoga teacher accreditation, Lisa is also a certified Balanced Body Pilates instructor, a Usui Reiki energy healer, and a Star 1 Spinning instructor based in Singapore.
