Physiotherapy Post Surgery
Post surgical physiotherapy and rehabilitation
Physiotherapy Post Surgery
In our physiotherapy and hand therapy clinics, we provide
rehabilitative care for patients after surgery. We will perform our
assessment and co-develop a personal and custom-made exercise therapy program for you to accelerate your return to work, daily activities and even exercises as soon as possible.
Common surgical procedures we treat are:
Upper Limbs (fingers, wrists, forearms, elbows)
- fractures (ORIFs, IM Nailings, K-Wiring, external fixators)
- tendon repairs
- ligamental repairs
- soft tissue lacerations and damage
- post H&L injections
- Spinal fusion
- Post-surgical rehabilitation
- Hip replacement
- Knee replacement
- Achilles repair
- Lateral ligament repair
For optimal rehabilitation and recovery, the therapy intervention process are divided into three stages:
this stage, we will focus on decreasing the inflammatory problems such
as pain and swelling utilizing treatment modalities such as retrograde
massage, thermal and cryotherapy
and electrotherapy. At the same time, we also will start with gentle
active and passive exercises for our patients to prevent stiffness from
settling into joints and muscles as well as to improve muscle function,
strength and blood flow.
Early stage rehab:
at this stage will focus more on active exercises and activity to
maximize your muscle strength, mobility and stability. The intensity and
frequency of the exercise therapy program will be adjusted on a on-going process to suit your progressive level of activity.
this last stage of physiotherapy post surgery, the bulk of the focus
will be to work on function-related exercises to ensure that
return-to-work or to previous lifestyle will be seamless and smooth.
There will be much emphasis on patient education of body biomechanics
and postural management to prevent any possible problems in the long
During the entire physical therapy treatment process, you
will be given a personalized home exercise program to complement and do
between the sessions. We also provide home visits
for patients who requests for on-going follow ups for supervisions, or
those who wants guidance with exercise at home or at the gym.
