Lower Back Pain Physiotherapy

Lower back pain can be caused and aggravated by a myriad of problems at the discs, joints, muscles and ligaments or even a combination of 2 or more injuries. However, lower back pain often occurs mainly due to

  • acute or direct injuries (trauma) and/or
  • poor postural habits that leads to long-term accumulation of micro-trauma to the spine

Lower Back Pain Symptoms

Most of our lower back pain patients report experiencing:

  • pain and/or discomfort between their ribs and buttocks
  • with or without leg pain

Symptoms can vary, ranging from

  • shooting pain
  • sharp pain
  • stabbing pain
  • decreased movements
  • joint stiffness
  • difficulty getting up
  • difficulty standing straight/upright
  • difficulty walking

If  the patient also has symptoms of sciatica, the compressed sciatic nerve causes pain that radiates (travels) down the leg and maybe experience pain in their foot and ankle. Sometimes patientsalso report experiencing pins and needles or numbness too.

Patients who experience new (termed as "acute") episode of lower back pain may experience symptoms that last anything from a few days to a couple of weeks due to trauma. If the patient's lower back pain has been present for more than 3 months, it is what we call as long-term back pain (chronic back pain).

Lower Back Pain Physiotherapy Treatments

Most of the time, lower back pain happens due to more than one reason/cause factors, hence getting spinal physiotherapy treatments from our specialist spine physios who specialize in spinal physiotherapy will be better to specificly treat your lower back pain.

Our spinal physios will first do an indepth and multi-factorial spinal assessment on you before creating a customized lower back pain physio treatment plan for you. They may also use modalities such as:

Our spinal physios may also refer or recommend you to complementary treatment modalities such as Clinical Pilates or personal training or acupuncture or more to help with the long term management, care and strength of your back.

Our spinal physiotherapy and lower back pain Expertise

Our specialist physios are always and only carefully selected based on their

to join us in Phoenix, including spinal physios specializing in the treatment of back pain and back injuries. As lower back pain is often caused by multiple reasons, our specialist spine physios will be the best person to treat your back and neck pains, no matter if it's an old or new injury, mild or severe - we are confident that our specialist team will be able to serve you well.

Although many different structures  and factors can cause neck pain and back pains such as the spinal discs, spinal ligament, spinal muscles and spinal nerves, our spine physios will find the underlying reason why that structure was damaged and treat the problem at the core of it, allowing you to address the root cause rather than just treat the symptoms.
