Limping Physiotherapy Singapore
Leg and limb length discrepancies/differences can be caused by a variety of factors, and their management linked to the estimated limb length discrepancy at the max skeletal maturity.
If the predicted leg length discrepancy is about 2-5 cm at skeletal maturity can be managed with a shoe raised or an open surgical shortening procedure. For example surgical closure of relevant growth plates (epiphysiodesis) at a set/appropriate time to achieve limb/leg limb equality at skeletal maturity.
From constant limp/limping, patients can sustain fractures to their bones, ligamental sprains and strains too.
Limping or limp means to difficulties when one is/tries to walk.
If you find that you tend to favor one leg over the other, then it's possible that you have a mild/slight limp; and most of the time, limping is caused by disease or damage that should be assessed by a trained specialist health care professional.
Our specialist physiotherapists are not only trained to assess, diagnose and treat conditions that may lead to a person experiencing a limp, but they're specialist and passionate in managing sports, orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions such as limping too.
So what our specialist physiotherapists will do is they will start of by assessing and understanding the severity of the discrepancies, which usually can be corrected with athletic conditioning as well as stretching/flexibility programs, or with the help of arch supports or orthotic devices.
In some cases, some leg/limb length discrepancies can be beyond the scope of physiotherapists, and in such instances we will refer you to our specialist podiatrist to advise you on the best course of action.
