Physiotherapy Rehab May Be Covered By Health Insurance - Get To Know Your Benefits

Since 2008 in our experience as a senior clinical therapists and administrator for the physiotherapy and rehab company that we run; we have learnt a little more about how many patients who have personal accident insurance plan or other forms of insurance may be able to claim their physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, clinical pilates, chiropractic and even acupuncture/traditional Chinese medicine intervention with us.

Some programs that you can consider:

  • back pain or neck pain rehab programs
  • ankle, shoulder and knee strengthening and rehab programs
  • clinical pilates for core strengthening and wellness programs
  • pre-marathon/sports/cross fit assessment and training
  • and more

To guide you, what we often ask patients to either check with their insurer, insurance agent or their company human resource (HR) department to check for their individual and corporate insurance/medical coverage on the following:

  • What is covered?

eg are you covered for any specific type of therapy eg physiotherapy, occupational therapy etc

  • How much is covered?

This refers to the quantum of coverage, and some companies indicate X amount to unlimited amount per financial year

  • What is the process to get covered?

Usually requiring (1) a referral form for physiotherapy/occupational therapy/etc as well as a (2) pay-and-claim approach (meaning you pay first then claim from your insurer/HR)

Note: we are a registered physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, chiropractic, clinical pilates with Singapore Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) and TCM Board (both are regulated by Singapore's Ministry Of Health MOH) - so far, there is no rejection by insurance at all for any receipts from our clinics (rejection only happens if/when patients insurance coverage is limited/exceeded).

If you're not sure what/how to proceed, please drop us an email at contact@phoenixrehabgroup.com and we'll be more than happy to assist you - talk soon!
